Polices for the Studio of Dr. Rodgers
I wish it was unnecessary to implement the following policies, but as a result of 35+ years of private teaching, I have found it to be essential.
Cancellations:
I value each student’s lesson time and take it very seriously. Mutual consideration of each others' time is absolutely vital. Should you need to cancel a lesson, a 24-hour strict cancellation policy will be enforced. Lessons canceled with less notice (unless in the case of an emergency) will be charged in full. If you have given more than 24 hours notice, a make-up will be offered within 5 days. Remember, you are paying for the lesson time. This policy honors the value of my time, in that if someone fails to show up for their lesson, that same portion of my day is not only still spent preparing but has also been reserved for you, and thus deserves the normal compensation.
Lessons falling on or around major holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) will likely be skipped or if possible, rescheduled. When we mutually agree to skip such weeks, the tuition for the month will be reduced accordingly.
Scheduling:
Once scheduled for the month, you are financially obligated for those lessons. Being on time is a requirement. Please arrive (or sign on for online lessons) five minutes early. If you arrive late, you will only receive the remainder of the lesson time that day. If you are more than 15 minutes late and have not contacted me, I will not be available for the remainder of your scheduled time.
Payment:
Monthly payment is due on the month’s first lesson. You also have the option to pay per lesson, but all payments are required on or before the scheduled lesson. There is a $30 fee for every returned check.
Accepted forms of payment are cash, check, or Square. Payment may be made in person or via Square.
Teacher Absence:
Lessons canceled by the teacher will be rescheduled at a mutually agreed upon time or a full credit of the canceled lesson will be issued towards next month’s lesson charges.
Requested Purchases:
When new books or other materials are requested to be purchased, students are expected to have them within two lessons of the initial request.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. I look forward to working with you and creating a strong musical bond.
